Getting With It.

The last few months have been pretty slow for iglubu. I finished my finance degree at Loyola University, and graduated! Its very exciting to be finished, and now i hope to dedicate a significant amount of time over the next couple of weeks to iglubu.

All of these months have left me with plenty of time to day dream about what I would like iglubu to be. I have a plan, with a number of new bag shapes and new products. On top of that, we are also updating the navigation on the website and working to optimize the text aspects of the site to make it more fun, and easier to read.

Look for these changes very soon!

an update on iglubu

iglubu has some great news right now. we've been slaving all week at the sewing machine, creating some of new spring items. We are planning a special launch this week (maybe tomorrow!) of our brand spanking shiny new website and it will be loaded with lots of things to help welcome spring with open arms!

Also, we love Valentines day at iglubu, especially since our business name is based on love! We want to celebrate our new website, and our love for all of you, with our special valentines day clutch, a special discount (just for you guys!) and, a special new collaboration with Nicole from Pink Loves Brown. She and I joined our talents together to create our Valentines gift set (seen right). Right now, its not on my website yet, but if you want to, you can purchase it through Nicole's site.

Its been awhile since iglubu's last update! We've been really busy around here!

First, this coming weekend iglubu will be participating in a craft fair! Its Depart-ment in chicago! We've been working hard to put together a bunch of cute things for depart-ment.

Second, and very exciting(!) the very smart and lovely Nicole from Pink Loves Brown has started a new webdesign company, Smart & Lovely, and her latest project was a new face lift for iglubu! We're working on the layout, along with lots of new ideas for handbags and much more! We are hoping the new site will launch sometime around Christmas.

This is something ive been working on using the new site design as inspiration. The new site is very inspirational. In the new year, you will notice more diverse advertising, new packaging, new promo ideas and so much more. I am so excited to share everything with you!

Finally, Nicole and I have started a new business, Oh Honestly... Our goal is to provide a resource for independent artists, who are starting their own business, and need help finding reliable companies to deal with. We are working very hard on getting it up and running. You can go check out the website, and it should be fully functional very soon!

a really long time ago my mom had a dream that i started buying fleece and making the fleece into scarf and mitten sets to hand out to homeless people in the winter time in chicago. ive been thinking a lot about this lately, especially as i am in need of a new winter coat and will probably end up spending $300 on a new coat. many people can not afford to eat, let alone keep warm during the long dark winter months. i figure i could get 2-3 sets out of one yard of fleece. so, maybe for each item i sell on the website, i could donate a portion of that to my scarf and mitten fund.

i was also thinking about having the option of having customers buy a scarf and mitten set for a homeless person for around $2.00. this probably wouldnt cover the whole cost, but i'd be willing to donate the rest of the expense.

what if you were a homeless person? do you think it would be weird to receive this randomly from a person walking down the street?

Happy daylight savings time guys! I sure enjoyed that extra hour of sleep last night.

Yesterday i met with Nicole of www.pinklovesbrown.com to discuss a new project that we're working on. We're both very excited.. but its going to take a lot of work! I have a mound of php editing to do, so if anyone wants to help me.. ;)

today im going to work on a bunch of sewing stuff for iglubu. i have a craft fair coming up in 2 weeks and i have so much i need to do. to top things off, h is coming in on friday (yay!), so this is really my last "day off" until the craft show. hopefully, ill have some cute stuff to show you guys in the next couple of days.

Oh! i also downloaded this really cool photo editor this morning. its called GIMP, and from my usage of photoshop, it seems to be pretty similar. And the best part - its free! after i use it, ill let you know my final opinion on GIMP.
